These are exciting times for Doncaster. Significant progress has been made in the last few years and Doncaster now has the fourth fastest growing economy in the country. Senior leaders in Doncaster, notably the council’s Elected Mayor and Chief Executive, are passionate about creating a borough where people come together with a shared ambition to improve people’s lives. In September of 2017, the Mayor launched an ambitious vision for the next four years called Doncaster Growing Together, which brings to life the shared aims and ambitions for our residents across four areas: Learning, Caring, Living and Working. This will all be taken forward by our strategic partnership called Team Doncaster - a dynamic, multi-skilled partnership collectively sharing their knowledge, talent and expertise to help shape the future of the borough.

We are also driving forward a number of key strategic initiatives – these include the Social Mobility Opportunity Area, our Children & Young People’s Plan, and introducing new models of education to better meet the educational needs of our young people.

Vital to our plans is a passion to create opportunities for our young people and ensure that they are able to take an active role in shaping what this looks and feels like – this is essential for us as a borough, and for them as individuals. The ambition in the Children & Young People’s Plan was to make Doncaster the most child friendly borough in the country, and we have made significant progress towards this with our child led inquiry into child poverty, our work to embed young people’s voice in the commissioning of services, and through working directly with them to re-design careers advice.

Our directorate of Learning and Opportunities: Children and Young People has undergone a period of significant change which has included a review of the management structure and the functions of the directorate and the creation of the first Children’s Trust in the country, with whom we work in close partnership.

We have a number of roles that we would like to fill. These range from positions in our newly formed leadership team, to those with a more operational focus. We are looking for ambitious, dynamic and forward thinking individuals with the ability to form strong successful relationships and who not necessarily traditional in their thinking.
